2027 Cadillac Escalade: What’s New, What’s Changing, and What Stays the Same

The 2027 Cadillac Escalade costs more to get into than any Escalade before it. Cadillac quietly deleted the base trim, so the least expensive 2027 Escalade (a Luxury with rear-wheel drive) starts at $105,595 including the $2,895 destination charge. That is $11,600 above last year’s entry price. Everything else about the big Cadillac? Remarkably familiar, and that is mostly good news.

Here is what changed, what did not, and what we still don’t know

2027 Escalade Changes vs. 2026

The lineup shrank. For 2027, Cadillac dropped the entry 1SA trim and the rear-wheel-drive versions of the Platinum Luxury and Platinum Sport. What remains is Luxury (2WD or 4WD), Sport (2WD or 4WD), Platinum Luxury (4WD only), Platinum Sport (4WD only), and the Escalade-V (AWD), each offered in standard length or as the longer Escalade ESV.

The details changed too. Cadillac added a new Sandstone exterior color, retired Aegean Stone and Magnus Metal Frost, and removed the little torque-figure badges from the tailgate (nobody will miss them). The Onyx appearance package was reworked; the Sport version now runs $4,200 with 22-inch Gloss Black wheels, while the Platinum Sport and Escalade-V version runs $5,200 with 24-inch black wheels. The Onyx Lite package is gone from the Escalade-V.

Two tech notes deserve honesty. First, the 2027 Escalade supports a phone-as-key Digital Key, but GM plans to switch it on later through an over-the-air update (no date announced). Second, Night Vision is currently constrained; per GM Authority, it cannot be ordered on Luxury or Sport right now, and Platinum models are building without it and carry a $2,000 credit on the window sticker. The Escalade-V keeps it.

What Stayed the Same

Nearly everything you actually touch. The 2025 refresh brought the current face and the 55-inch Horizon Display, and both carry over unchanged. Super Cruise hands-free driver assistance remains standard on every trim (with a three-year OnStar One plan), as do Google built-in, a 21-speaker AKG Studio audio system, and the dual-pane Power SkyGlass roof. The body-on-frame chassis, the seating for seven (or eight with the available bench), and the Air Ride Adaptive Suspension option all return.

2027 Cadillac Escalade Price by Trim

Here is a breakdown of the prices for each trim level of the 2027 Cadillac Escalade, which includes a standard destination charge of $2,895: Luxury 2WD at $105,595, Sport 2WD at $106,195, Platinum Luxury 4WD at $127,095, Platinum Sport 4WD at $127,595, Escalade-V AWD at $172,195, and ESV AWD at $175,195. Some trims have experienced price increases compared to 2026, reflecting the current market conditions.

2027 Escalade Specs: Engine, Towing, and MPG

The engine is the point. Every Escalade except the V uses a 6.2L V8 making 420 horsepower and 460 lb-ft of torque, paired with a 10-speed automatic (in an era of turbo sixes, Cadillac still sells a big, honest V8, and we are grateful). Properly equipped, a 2WD Escalade tows up to 8,100 lbs; the 4WD version tows 7,900 lbs, and the ESV tops out at 8,000 lbs.

Fuel economy is what you’d expect from three tons of luxury. The EPA rates the 2WD Escalade at 15 mpg city, 19 highway, and 17 combined; 4WD models are rated 14/18/16. Premium fuel is required.

Cargo space runs 25.5 cubic feet behind the third row in the standard Escalade and 41.5 in the ESV, expanding to 120.5 and 142.2 cubic feet with the rear rows folded.

Does the 2027 Escalade Have a Diesel?

No. Cadillac dropped the 3.0L Duramax diesel after the 2024 model year, citing low demand (Escalade marketing manager Donnelly Baxter told GM Authority that only five percent of buyers chose it). Every 2027 Escalade runs on gasoline.

2027 Cadillac Escalade-V

The V is the Escalade with its tie loosened. Its hand-built supercharged 6.2L V8 makes 682 horsepower and 653 lb-ft, sent through standard all-wheel drive, and it stops with Brembo six-piston front brakes. You also get an active exhaust with black quad tips, unique fascias, 24-inch wheels, and a console refrigerator with a freezer mode (because of course it has one). It tows 7,200 lbs (7,000 lbs as an ESV) and returns an EPA-rated 13 mpg combined, a number its owners tend to accept with a shrug.

Escalade IQ vs. Gas Escalade

The Escalade IQ is a separate vehicle, not an engine option. It rides on GM’s electric Ultium platform and is built in Detroit, while the gas Escalade is built in Arlington, Texas. For 2027, Cadillac is giving the IQ and the longer IQL a native NACS charge port (so they plug straight into compatible Tesla Superchargers), a standard 19.2 kW onboard charger for faster home charging, a new Signature Sport flagship trim, and four new colors. 2027 IQ production is scheduled to start in December 2026, and Cadillac has not published 2027 IQ pricing yet.

When Is the 2027 Escalade Available?

Now. Production of the 2027 Escalade began September 8, 2026, and new units are already reaching dealers across the country. It is also expected to be the last Escalade model year built in Arlington; GM has said Escalade production starts at its Orion Assembly plant in Michigan in early 2027.

How the 2027 Escalade Compares

The Escalade is the most expensive way into the full-size American luxury SUV club. The 2026 Lincoln Navigator starts at $94,890 with a 440-horsepower twin-turbo V6 and an 8,700-lb tow rating. The 2026 Lexus LX 700h hybrid starts at $115,735 before destination (per Edmunds). The GLS 450 starts at $91,600 and the X7 xDrive40i at $89,050 (per KBB), but both tow less (7,700 and 7,500 lbs). What the Escalade offers in return is a V8, standard Super Cruise, and a 55-inch screen nobody else matches.
